59 new buses for Arriva Derby

59 new buses are expected at Arriva within the next 12 months. 31 are due before the end of the year, with a further 28 at the begining of 2009, making the entire front line fleet low floor.

It is not yet known exactly what the all the buses will be, but below is a rough idea of what is happening! This page will be updated as things progress.

Route 20
Currently has 3 Omnilinks allocated to the route. Improved timetable from October 26th, re-introducing a 10 minute daytime frequency.
Routes 22/4/
Are to loose the double deck DAF /EL Lowlanders in favour of single deck Scania Omnicities. Slight changes to the timetable, but the same frequency. The new Scanias should be in use by October 26th 2008.
Route 26/
New single deck Scania Omnicities will replace the DAFs double deckers. Frequency will be increased to every 10 minutes daytime, 30 minutes evening and Sundays. New night service N26 introduced on most of the route (as far as Wayfaring Rd - then 22 route) on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Route 28/29
Improved frequency with buses every 10 mins on each route (5 minutes combined). Routes will be made circular, so 28s will go back to Derby via the 29 route, with 29's doing the opposite. Optare Solos are expected to be on these routes when the changes take effect from October 26th.

Westbourne Park, Acton Rd and Harleston Avenue in Mackworth will not be served by the new routes. The services will enter the City via the inner ring road.

New Optare Solos are expected to be in service by 26th October. The route will be revised to run from Babington Lane in the City. It will depart the City Centre via London Road, Bradshaw Way and Charnwood Street. The service will then use Mill Hill Lane (not Stonehill Rd) and will use Carlton Rd instead of Overdale Rd and Porter Rd. New timetable will include a Sunday service.
Route 33
New route from October 26th. Outbound buses will go via Abbey St (not Monk St). Inbound buses will use Burton Rd, Babington Lane and Traffic Street. Buses will run via Westbury Street instead of Stockbrook Rd and Old Hall Rd instead of Hillsway. This route is set to be made low floor , although this may be later than the route alterations take effect.
Route 36
New timetable from October 26th.
Routes 37/8
New timetables take effect from 26th October, including N38. New double deckers are due on the 38 service early 2009.
Routes 40/41
New timetable from October 26th. Route altered so that outbound buses use London Rd and Bradshaw Way instead of Osmaston Rd. Dennis Dart single deckers (currently on the Chellaston service) are to be used here, making the routes low floor by early 2009.
Routes 42/43
New circular services.
42: Morlede - Pride Park - Blue Peter - Harvey Rd - Boulton Lane - Chellaston Rd - Allenton - Ascot Drive - Pride Park - City Centre.
43: As above but in opposite direction.
Routes 44/45
The DAF double deckers on the Oakwood services are expected to replace the Olympians on this route, making it low floor by October 26th 2008, when a revised timetable will also be introduced. Brand new buses are due for these services early 2009.
Routes 60/61/68
Derby - Melbourne - Swadlincote will be covered by an extended 61 (no more 68). Derby - Melbourne service reduced from every 30 minute to hourly. Service 60 extended to serve Acrefield Way.
11 new full size single deckers should be in use early 2009.
N26, N38, N44 and N61
New Friday and Saturday night services running until 3am. All will depart from Victoria Street. Services start on 31st October.
N26: Route 26 as far as Wayfaring Rd, then route 22 back to Derby, serving Chaddesden and Oakwood.
N38: Serving Normanton and Sinfin.
N44: Serving Alvaston.
N61: Serving Chellaston.
